Social Tip App Review: Can You Really Get Paid to Post About Brands?
What if the coffee, snacks or beauty products already appearing in your Instagram content could earn you money?
That is essentially the idea behind Social Tip: an app that rewards everyday people for posting original content about participating brands.
You don’t need thousands of followers.
You don’t need to pitch brands.
And you don’t necessarily need to consider yourself an influencer.
You do, however, need to create genuine, engaging content that follows the rules.
So, how does Social Tip work, and how can you give your posts the best chance of earning the highest available reward?
Let’s take a look 👇
Referral disclosure: This post contains my Social Tip referral link. I may receive a reward if you join through my link and publish an eligible rewarded post. This does not cost you anything.
What is the Social Tip app?
Social Tip is a mobile app that pays people to create and publish content about brands they already buy from or use.
You connect your Instagram and/or TikTok account, choose an eligible brand, publish your content and then submit or sync the post through the app.
Your reward is calculated using factors including:
📱 The type of content you publish
🎥 The quality of the content
👀 Its reach and performance
💬 The engagement it receives
👥 Your following and account activity
Importantly, follower count is not the only deciding factor.
That makes Social Tip more accessible than traditional influencer work, where brands may only consider creators with a particular audience size.
A smaller creator with an engaged audience and a strong piece of content may still be able to earn.
Is Social Tip a UGC app?
Yes… but it works slightly differently from many traditional UGC platforms.
In a typical UGC arrangement, a brand might:
Send you a product
Give you a content brief
Pay you an agreed fee
Use the content on its own channels or adverts
With Social Tip, you will often begin with something you have bought yourself.
You then create content about the product and post it on your own Instagram and/or TikTok account (you can get double the reward if you post to both). Your reward is calculated after the post begins receiving views and engagement.
It sits somewhere between:
✨ UGC creation
📣 Influencer marketing
💷 Cashback
🗣️ Paid word-of-mouth
It may be particularly useful for people who already enjoy making product-based content but are not yet regularly securing paid brand deals.
How Social Tip works
The basic process is fairly straightforward.
1. Download the app
Create an account and connect the social-media account you plan to use.
Social Tip supports content from Instagram and TikTok, although the available formats and rules can differ between platforms.
2. Check which brands are available
Open the brands section before making your content.
Do not assume a brand will qualify just because it is well known.
Social Tip only rewards content for participating brands shown in the app. Brands and individual product restrictions can change, so check the current notice before every post.
3. Buy or use an eligible product
Many submissions require evidence that you bought the product, usually in the form of a receipt.
Keep the receipt somewhere safe and make sure the relevant:
Retailer
Product
Brand
Purchase information
can be clearly read.
Some opportunities may not require proof of purchase, but you should check the instructions attached to the brand.
4. Create and publish your content
Your post needs to feature or meaningfully mention the selected brand.
Depending on the opportunity, you could create:
🎥 An Instagram Reel
📲 An Instagram Story
🎬 A TikTok video
The product should be easy to see, preferably from the beginning of the content.
5. Tag the correct accounts
Social Tip currently asks users to tag:
The participating brand
@socialtiphq
Follow the exact instructions in the app, as an incorrect or missing tag could prevent the post from being detected or approved.
6. Disclose that the post is an advert
Your post must include a clear reference to “Ad”.
This could be included:
In the caption
As visible text or a sticker
Verbally within a video
Do not bury the disclosure among hashtags or assume that tagging Social Tip is enough.
A post can be rejected when it does not contain an advertising disclosure.
7. Sync or submit the post
Choose the correct brand when uploading the post to Social Tip.
Double check this carefully.
Once the wrong brand has been selected, the submission may need to be rejected and resubmitted.
8. Wait for the reward to calculate
The calculation period is normally up to 48 hours.
Once the status changes from Calculating to Rewarded, the money becomes available in your Social Tip wallet. I would recommend you withdraw immediately as, like with any app, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
How much can you earn with Social Tip?
There is no single amount paid for every post.
Your reward depends on several factors, including the content format, quality, reach and engagement.
The Social Tip website shows examples ranging from relatively small rewards to payments of £20 or more, but these examples should not be treated as guaranteed earnings.
Some App Store reviewers report earning several hundred - or even several thousand - pounds over time. Those are individual user claims, however, not typical-income figures.
Realistically, earnings are likely to vary considerably.
One Reel might perform well.
Another might make only a few pounds.
A post that fails to meet the requirements could earn £0.
I would therefore view Social Tip as:
A way to potentially earn extra money from content - not a predictable replacement for paid UGC contracts or employment.
My top tips for earning the highest possible reward 💡
There is no legitimate trick that guarantees the maximum payout.
But these steps should give your content a better chance of qualifying and performing well.
1. Check the app before buying anything
Do not buy a product purely for Social Tip until you have confirmed:
✅ The brand is currently listed
✅ The product category is eligible
✅ There are no exclusions
✅ A receipt will be accepted
✅ The available reward makes the purchase worthwhile
Some brands have individual notices or excluded ranges.
For example, a retailer might be available while certain food, drink or other products remain ineligible.
Always read the current brand notice rather than relying on an older post or video.
2. Show the product immediately
Social Tip recommends showing the actual product - and ideally its packaging - in the first few seconds of a video.
Do not make the viewer wait 15 seconds to find out what the post is about.
A stronger opening might be:
“I may have found the easiest iced coffee for this heatwave…”
Rather than:
“Come shopping with me while I explain what I did on Tuesday…”
Your hook still needs to feel natural, but the product should be obvious.
3. Create a Reel or TikTok rather than relying on Stories
Stories disappear quickly and have a shorter period in which to collect views.
Reels and TikToks remain visible for longer, giving them more time to reach people and generate engagement.
That does not mean every video needs to be highly polished.
A simple piece of content can still work well when it has:
🎯 A clear idea
👀 A strong opening
💡 Useful or entertaining information
🎥 Good lighting
🔊 Clear audio
📦 An obvious product
For many creators, a relatable Reel will have more earning potential than a single static Story.
4. Give people a reason to keep watching
A product appearing on screen is not automatically engaging content.
Try building the video around a recognisable idea:
A problem the product solves
A quick review
A taste test
A comparison
A routine
A recipe
A before-and-after
A funny or relatable observation
For example:
POV: It’s 29°C and your nervous system has requested an iced coffee and absolutely no further responsibilities.
The product remains central, but the content gives the viewer something beyond an advert.
5. Talk about your real experience
Generic praise is rarely convincing.
Instead of saying:
“This is amazing. I love it.”
Explain what specifically makes the product useful or enjoyable.
For example:
“I like this because it tastes nutty without being overly sweet, and it takes about two minutes to turn it into breakfast.”
Specific details make the content feel more believable and can help generate comments and questions.
You are also allowed to give a positive, neutral or negative opinion. Social Tip’s terms say the sentiment itself should not reduce the fee for an otherwise qualifying post.
The important point is that the experience is genuine.
6. Use good natural lighting
You do not need an expensive camera or studio.
But people need to be able to see the product.
Film near a window where possible and check that:
The packaging is readable
The image is not grainy
The product is in focus
Your audio can be understood
There is no distracting clutter
Better production quality can affect both viewer retention and Social Tip’s assessment of the content.
7. Encourage genuine engagement
Rewards are influenced by reach and engagement, so create content that naturally invites a response.
You might ask:
“Would you try this?”
“Are you choosing pancakes or overnight oats?”
“Which flavour should I try next?”
Avoid artificial engagement tactics or anything that could look manipulated.
Social Tip reviews audience and engagement patterns and may withhold rewards where activity appears automated, misleading or inauthentic.
8. Post when your audience is actually online
The first hours after publishing can matter.
Check your Instagram or TikTok insights to see when your followers tend to be active.
Posting at a time when your audience is online may help you secure early:
❤️ Likes
💬 Comments
📤 Shares
🔖 Saves
👀 Views
There is no universal “best time.” Your own account data is more useful than generic advice telling everyone to post at 7 pm.
9. Use a genuine, active social account
Social Tip is designed for real individuals sharing original personal content.
Accounts may be considered ineligible when they primarily consist of:
Reposted content
Giveaways or deals
AI-generated posts
Brand promotions only
Engagement farming
Little or no genuine personal activity
This is important for dedicated UGC accounts.
Your account should still feel like a real, active creator account, rather than a page created solely to extract payments from the app.
Mix Social Tip posts with other relevant, original content.
10. Don’t repeatedly post the same brand
Social Tip recommends variety across participating brands.
Posting near-identical videos about the same product repeatedly may feel less authentic and could also reduce audience interest.
Aim to vary:
The brands
The products
The video structure
The opening hook
The setting
The type of value offered
The goal is not to turn your feed into a conveyor belt of sponsored cereal.
11. Keep every receipt
A receipt can currently be used up to three times, generally once for each eligible content type:
One Instagram Reel
One Instagram Story
One TikTok video
Where a receipt includes several Social Tip brands, it may be possible to use it three times for each participating brand.
However, from 1 August 2026, posts on the same platform must use different content assets.
For example, you cannot reuse the exact same video for both an Instagram Reel and an Instagram Story and expect both to qualify.
You can still use the receipt for a Reel, Story and TikTok - just create separate content where required.
12. Use a recent post
Posts more than 90 days old are not eligible.
Social Tip also warns that submitting older content - even when it is still within the 90-day limit - can affect the reward.
For the strongest chance of payment, sync your post promptly rather than searching through content you published two months ago.
13. Stay within the posting limit
Only seven posts per platform within a rolling seven-day period are currently eligible for rewards.
Posts exceeding that limit may receive £0.
This means more content does not automatically equal more money.
Plan your submissions and prioritise the strongest pieces rather than uploading everything at once.
14. Check every requirement before posting
Before pressing publish, use this checklist:
✅ Is the brand currently in the app?
✅ Is this particular product eligible?
✅ Is the product clearly visible?
✅ Have I used original content?
✅ Have I tagged the correct brand?
✅ Have I tagged @socialtiphq?
✅ Is “Ad” clearly disclosed?
✅ Is the receipt readable?
✅ Have I selected the correct brand in the app?
✅ Am I within the weekly posting limit?
It is much easier to fix a missing tag before publishing than to deal with a rejected submission afterwards.
Common reasons Social Tip posts are rejected 🚫
Your content may be rejected when:
❌ The connected account does not belong to the creator
❌ The wrong brand has been selected
❌ The content is duplicated
❌ The post has been deleted or cannot be seen
❌ The receipt is blurred, invalid or has exceeded its usage limit
❌ The post is more than 90 days old
❌ The content is low quality or uses website screenshots
❌ “Ad” has not been disclosed
❌ The brand is not clearly shown or mentioned
❌ A brand-specific restriction has been ignored
❌ The post is not an eligible content format
Even a genuine post can be rejected if it does not meet the technical requirements.
Read the instructions first, then get creative within them.
How do you withdraw your Social Tip earnings?
Once your post has finished calculating and becomes Rewarded, the money is added to your in-app wallet.
The current minimum withdrawal is more than £5, and Social Tip says it does not charge a withdrawal fee.
Available payment methods may include:
🏦 Bank transfer
💳 PayPal
💻 Other payment providers shown in the app
Withdrawals would normally be expected within a few working days, although bank checks, public holidays or incorrect details can cause delays.
You may also be required to complete identity or payment verification.
Don’t forget about tax
Rewards earned through Social Tip may count as taxable income depending on your circumstances.
The app does not remove your responsibility to:
Keep records
Track your income
Check whether it must be reported
Pay any tax that becomes due
Keep screenshots of your wallet and withdrawals, alongside your receipts and other side-hustle records.
Social Tip’s referral scheme
Once you have published your first rewarded Social Tip post, you can access your referral link inside the app.
At the time of writing, Social Tip says referrers can earn 10% of each referred person’s post rewards, up to £100 per referral.
The new user must:
Be genuinely new to Social Tip.
Join using the unique referral link.
Publish a post.
Have that post approved and rewarded.
Referral terms can change, so check the current offer shown in your account.

Once you have joined, start by checking which products you already have at home.
You may not need to buy anything new.
A coffee, snack, beauty product, pet food or household item you already use could be your first opportunity to test the app.
Is Social Tip worth it?
It could be worth trying if you already enjoy creating social media content and regularly buy from participating brands.
The main advantages are:
✅ No large following required
✅ No cold pitching
✅ Familiar consumer brands
✅ An opportunity to practise UGC
✅ Real cash withdrawals
✅ Potential referral income
But there are drawbacks:
⚠️ Rewards are variable
⚠️ Purchases may be required
⚠️ A qualifying post is not guaranteed to earn the maximum
⚠️ Content must be posted publicly on your account
⚠️ Social Tip and its brand partners receive broad usage rights
⚠️ Posts can receive £0 or be rejected
⚠️ Income is not predictable
One particularly important point is content usage.
When you sync content to Social Tip, its terms grant Social Tip and relevant brand partners broad rights to use, share and redistribute it, potentially for commercial marketing, without an additional usage fee.
That may be acceptable for a casual post earning a few pounds.
But creators should understand that it is different from negotiating a separate UGC fee plus paid usage rights directly with a brand.
My verdict?
I am a big fan of Social Tip as it is one of the few side hustles that (if done correctly) guarantees some income. However, I would not buy products that I would not use anyway to be on the safe side.
Use products you genuinely like.
Keep your costs low.
Follow every instruction.
Track how much time you spend creating each post.
And make sure the reward is actually worth the effort.
Because the aim is to create a little more financial breathing room - not accidentally acquire a cupboard full of granola that you don’t like and a second unpaid job.
